While it's not easy to play in small increments, this is the perfect way to kill time on a longer flight or riding in the car. Just be sure you have some time for the story mode before you start it-it sucks you in and makes time fly. For people new to the franchise though, this is a fun game and a great time waster.

There are a few new moves and a new story from the console versions, which means it will be a hard sell getting people who already own the game on the PS2 to plunk down the cash for the PSP version.
The game is great fun, and my only real issue is that once you get into the story, you can spend a lot of time playing, but it's not quite as friendly as other games for a quick five minutes on any mode except the quick fights. There are also quick fights if you don't want to mess around with the story. The story mode is a good ten hours long, and you'll want to experiment with different fighting styles, so multiple play throughs extend the life of the game. DMX, Ghostface Killah, and Ludacris were among the artists that appeared in the game. With the hottest music seamlessly infused into the world around you, the game’s environments pulsate, crumble, and explode to life with every bone-jarring beat. Def Jam Vendetta was the labels first foray into the fighting game franchise in 2003. You can make them look as tough or as silly as you'd like. Integrates hip hop culture and gaming like never before. After each fight, you can deck your created character out in a ton of different clothes, jewelry, haircuts, tattoos. You can put someone through the jukebox at a pool hall or try your street fighting moves at an Asian-styled martial arts club. Each character fights differently, and each stage has a lot of personality. One of the strengths of the original game, the story mode, is a little weaker in the PSP version since there is less room for animated cut scenes and voice acting, but the gameplay sitll shines through. There is a little bit of a drop in graphics, but it's not as bad as it could be, and the smaller screen is pretty forgiving.

What impressed me about the PSP version was how closely the portable version mirrored the console game, it really was the full game, but on the go. Even if you don't like the rappers or the hip-hop soundtrack, if you're a fan of wrestling games or brawlers you could do a lot worse. It all added up to a really fun experience, and one that's worth picking up today if you missed it, as the title should be pretty cheap by now. The game even had a strong story, with characters and plot twists that were better than a lot of RPGs I've played in the past. I had a lot of fun beating up Flava Flav (Yeaaaah, boy!) and then going over to Manny's for some new tattoos. It was also a great party game, with fighting that was much deeper than it appeared at first. While the music isn't really my cup of tea, the fighting mechanics were tight, and the hits looked brutal. To start, I actually loved the current-generation Def Jam Fight for New York. Now, his crew is involved in a major turf. First up, the PSP version of Def Jam: Fight for New York: bringing fighting rappers to a portable near you! D-Mob, after being arrested for involvement in a shooting, is broken out of police custody. Featuring no less than forty celebrities packed into the game, a fighting feel thats unique and all its own, and a serious dedication to game length, Def Jam: Fight For NY is a great. Def Jam Fight For NY PCIts hard to deny the appeal of a fighting game with this much street cred.
